Early Childhood Educator Job in Etobicoke, Ontario

1. Providing direct care of food handling for toddler, preschool kindergarten and school age children under the direction of the day care Supervisor 2. Food ordering to ensure a cost efficient, adequate supply of food to meet the cost of the requirements of the Day Care Program 3. Check temperatures of food when delivered and before it leaves the kitchen 4. Ensuring all food labels are checked for allergic ingredients and expiry dates 5. Assisting in Menu planning following the Canadian Food Guide as per the Child Care Early Years Act 6. Set up trolley with lunch and snack bins and deliver to all rooms 7. The preparation of a nutritious snacks utilizing fresh, seasonal fruits and vegetables and snacks consistent with the day care menu 8. Washing and sterilizing of dishes after meals 9. Keeping an accurate monthly inventory of food (rotate stock) and kitchen supplies and furnishings 10. Keep aware of all food allergies/update list regularly 11. Maintaining a safe, clean and well-ordered kitchen on a daily basis 12. Ensuring that food storage, handling and preparation are consistent with Public Health and licensing standards at all times 13. Advising the Supervisor of any problems with inventories or food preparation immediately 14. Ensure accurate daily records, are kept as required 15. Complete annual kitchen inspection with Public Health 16. ECA position in classroom in the afternoons Qualifications 1. Secondary School Graduate 2. Certified Food Handling Certificate from an approved provider 3. Previous experience in a kitchen - an asset 4. Experience in the Child Care Sector
