Early Childhood Educator in Pickering, Ontario

I have worked at Edukids Child Centre for three years now. I have experience working with age groups infant-school age. I also have experience working with special needs children. I have worked as the ECA in a Preschool room for 1 year, a Kindergarten classroom for 2 years and currently am the ECA in a School Age classroom of 30 children. I am currently enrolled in the ECE Apprenticeship program at Seneca College, in my 2nd year of studies, because of my schooling I am able to be ministry approved as an ECE. I recently graduated from Durham College in august of 2005 with my Personal Support Worker certificate. My second placement was at Stewart Homes in Pickering, which is a group home for mentally challenged kids. I worked with kids between the ages of 3-25, who had a variance of disibilities i.e Retts Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, blindness, etc. I entertained the childen with sensory kits or reading stories.,as well as provided hygiene, helped them dress/undress bathing, brushing teeth hair etc. I adored my placement at Stewart homes. As well, i have had the opportunity to work with special needs and behavioral children at my current place of employment. I have worked with children with severe autism as well as PDD and behavioural disorders. I have worked with many outside agencies such as Grandview Childrens Treatment Centre, Kinark and Durham region behavioural services.
