Early Childhood Educator in Scarborough, Ontario

I graduated from Centennial College in the Early Childhood Education diploma program. In my two years of study I did three different placements where I learned a lot about child development. In the past I have worked in different childcare centers, and I also did volunteer working in different setting as well. I supervised/observed children who are in the Infant, toddler, kindergarten, and preschool classroom, i planned age appropriate learning opportunities for groups of children or the individual child. I interact with the children and their parent because when we are working together to help the children learn they are able to grow from their environment in a healthy way. I maintained cleanliness of eating and playing area. I also assisted with the supervision of children during outdoor activities. I am someone who also has the Social Service Worker diploma from Centennial College as well; with is experience I know how important it is when everyone in the community come together to work on behalf of the children and their families. From my studies i learned that children not only model the behaviors of what their peers are doing good or bad in the childcare environment; but in their communities as well. I want to be a good role model for our children because what they learn from us will go beyond the next generation of children growing up. I have some experience working with children who have different disability. I know that children need to be independent. They have to try to do things for themselves first; include putting on and taking off their shoes, putting on their jacket, so we had images around the classroom that shows the children how to wash their hands with water and soap, dry their hands, and turn off the tap with the paper towel. That will help the children in their learning in a positive way in the long run.
