My philosophy is that children are “little scientists,” as Piaget says, in that they are always learning about the world and experimenting. Our job, as parents and educators, is to give them a consistent, stimulating, loving, and safe environment for exploring so that they can flourish. My degree in Science from the University of Guelph, passion to teach STEAM to children, and over 20 years of experience working with ECEs, children, and families would make me an asset to your organization. My experience in a Montessori classroom and reading Maria Montessori’s book gave me a lot of respect for the philosophy. Reggio Amelia is a style I have aspired to for many years for the philosophy’s open ended materials and focus on art as communication. On social media, I share STEAM activities for children. I kept excellent relations with the parents and a variety of science and art tools for the children as we participated in many STEAM activities, especially outdoors. In previous workplaces, I collaborated with ECEs and Teachers to design and implement a healthy and purposeful learning environment for children from diverse backgrounds. My experience in Nicaragua for a year brought me a lot of understanding of cultural sensitivity and respect for different cultures and experiences. I enjoy speaking on the benefits of activities and approaches to parents and other caregivers as a way of sharing knowledge. My marketing skills are excellent and I was top seller at past services. I thoroughly enjoy mentoring. The student I mentored in Early Childhood Education went on to work for her dream job. My skills and experience with children, the way I model professional values to my fellow ECEs, and cross-cultural knowledge make me a kind, compassionate, and patient leader.
