Practice teaching in the Peel District School Board allowed me to utilize my skills in applying three-part lesson designs and backward mapping for lesson planning. I was also able to make extensive use of technology and constructivist learning tools that included extensive implementation of technology through the use of PowerPoint, and non-commercial models as for teaching and learning. These tools had a significant impact on my teaching practice in meeting the needs of all students through differentiated instruction and through student centred learning. It is also important to note that my commitment to inclusiveness, equity and meeting the needs of varied learners was at the forefront of my agenda, as I believe it is critical that any foreshadowed plan should conform to meet the needs of obtaining absolute student success. I have extensive experience in working with Special needs students, specifically those on modified learning plan or behaviour plan. The course on special education taken throughout my teachers college career allowed me to utilize and interpret an IEP and to understand the varied learners present within a classroom. So with such knowledge and experience I am able to relate and understand all students. Furthermore, I am taking an additional qualification is Special education Part 1.
