Early Childhood Educator in Edmonton, Alberta

I have worked in a daycare as well as a non-profit preschool. I was the substitute at the daycare, which included all ages of children. I introduced new activities the children were interested in as well as previous plans laid out by the teachers I was filling in for. At the preschool, I was the full time teacher. I created developmentally appropriate curriculums for the children, engaging circles including in the moment activities. I spoke at parent meetings, conducted home visits at the beginning of each year for new families. Lots of extra curricular activities were also incorporated, for example, Mother's Day Tea, Christmas parties, commencement, Silent Auction Night etc. The preschool had many children with extra needs. I made sure to provide an inclusive environment at all times. I worked with outside professionals who came into the preschool to observe/instruct us on how to better teach these children. I used visual timetables, sign language, face cards to learn peer's names, and many other methods to ensure each child was heard, could communicate with peers, teachers. I really enjoy working with children with extra needs and helping them progress and grow.
