Early Childhood Educator in Mississauga, Ontario

I have worked with students of all ages and cultural backgrounds in the past. I have had 9 years of experience working with school-aged children, both in formal and informal educational settings. As a student teacher, I have completed my practicum placement at Ruth Thompson Middle School in Mississauga. I have successfully taught five Grade 8 Core French classes by using French as the primary medium of instruction. I have demonstrated skills at developing and implementing fun and stimulating lesson plans, for example, using Microsoft applications such as Powerpoint to create games for grammar revision. I have also demonstrated inclusion in the classroom by developing and modifying tests and evaluations to satisfy the needs of various learners. Currently, I am a French tutor at several tutoring locations in Mississauga such as B2A Learning Center, ICAN Education and Academy for English & Mathematics. My responsibilities are to prepare and implement weekly lesson plans according to the Ontario curriculum and provide homework help to students from elementary to high school level in Core French and French Immersion. I have had 2 years of experience working with young adults with special needs at Community On Campus, an organization at UTM that supports individuals with exceptionalities. My responsibilities were to provide support to individuals who have an intellectual disability while participating in various activities on campus including math literacy tutoring, fitness and sports, developing computer skills, etc. and make sure that they feel welcomed in the community. I have also dealt with a Grade 5 French Immersion student with Asperger Syndrome (AS) during my internship as a teacher candidate. I have learned to be direct with the students about their behaviours in class, communicating what is appropriate and what is not. Also, I have learned to provide them with an alternative way to express their opinions such as using word processors due to their challenges in handwriting.
