I design and implement lessons using cooperative learning strategies and incorporate a cross curricular approach to create deeper learning opportunities. I model the lessons and activities through technology to benefit all learning styles. My work with students supports my belief that each student has unique abilities that need to be recognized, nurtured, and encouraged. For example, engaging more on a one on one basis with student’s, interacting with parents and teachers are some of the effective ways that I have been able to tap into my students’ abilities and potential. I believe, by creating an educational foundation throughout the elementary years, it will allow students to unlock their capabilities and discover their interests. During my practice teaching, I was given the opportunity to teach students with diverse academic abilities and needs. To plan for their success, I followed the accommodations and modifications which were implemented on their individual education plans. Furthermore, I differentiated the content, environment, process and assessment to provide enriching and fulfilling learning opportunities for my students. I believe that learning is a life-long process and I plan on expanding my knowledge by completing the special education (part 1) additional qualification as well as other workshops.
