Early Childhood Educator in Waterloo, Ontario

Recently, I had the privilege of working with newcomer youth at Sunnyside elementary school. During a period of 4 months I worked with a young boy aged 8 years during which I assisted in creating activities to help him build essential english language skills that would help him gain confidence interacting with his peers. This experience was a rewarding challenge that has ignited a desire to learn how to work with and teach children. During high school I volunteered in the resource room to assist students aged 13 with special needs. This was an informal space wherein students could go to work independently. I provided support in terms of helping determine academic expectations for assignments, assist with reinforcing organizational skills such as building timelines, task lists, etc.
