• Diploma: Early Childhood Education (completion date: May 2013) • Experienced working in child care centres, directly interacted with diverse groups of children • Understand and respond positively to cultural differences and utilized inclusive teaching strategies • Establish and maintain effective interpersonal communication with children, families & colleagues • Maintain appropriate records for individual children (e.g. portfolio, anecdotal records, running records) • Proven ability to remain calm under pressure; good problem solving and conflict resolution skills • Languages: English, Banglal, Hindi and Urdu • Experienced in planning and implementing developmentally appropriate activities based on children’s needs and expressed interest • Experienced working with special need children and utilized inclusive teaching strategies. • Practice music, reading, co-operative games, the arts, sand/water play, dramatic (pretend) play, construction, science/inquiry. • Maintain a healthy, hygienic and safe environment for children, with diverse activities to engage children and build on pro-social environment and language development. • Computer skills: MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Internet research • Skilled in numeracy, Communication, Working with others, Decision making, Critical thinking. • Communicate verbally in a clear, concise and developmentally appropriate level when speaking with children. • Listen attentively, establish and maintain eye contact during communication. • Interact with children in a gentle and supportive manner; respond appropriately to differences in temperament. • Use constructive, positive language when responding to children’s behaviour.
