Early Childhood Educator in Brampton, Ontario

I had the pleasure of working with infants, toddlers, preschool and school age children for over two years in a child care centre in Streetsville, Mississauga. I was involved in the daily activities of carrying out theme based class schedules. I was also part of the transition team working which sought out to implement play based learning in class rooms at the child care centre that I worked at. During my work period at the child care centre I had the opportunity of working with three children identified as Autistic. One was high functioning and the other two were on the lower end of the spectrum and as such required a high degree of assistance. I also received training during the work period offered through the Geneva Centre for Autism as well as many other workshops and training sessions offered through the CDRDP. I recently came from a study abroad program offered by my University, the university of Toronto, which was an extension course of my Psychology degree at Oxford University in the United Kingdom. Over the course of the program I learnt about disabilities, disability issues and how best to educate students who have various disabilities. I have hopeful that the wealth of information I have learnt will help me to become better assistant to children with special needs in and out of the class room setting.
