Early Childhood Educator in Hamilton, Ontario

I have extensive experience working with children. As a part of my program I worked with children of a range of ages at a variety of placements. In my first year I worked at the Ryerson Early Learning Centre where I worked in the Preschool room, I assisted with programming and daily program set up and tear down. In second year I worked at Bond Child and Family Development where I worked with children from 2 and 1/2 to 6 years of age. I assisted with programming and the implementation of the daily program. In my 3rd year I worked at Holland Bloorview Rehabilitation Hospital in their drop-in program with children age 2 and 1/2 to 18 years of age. Finally, in my fourth year I worked with Toronto Children\'s Services - Special Services Unit where I worked alongside a Resource Educator to consult centres on the inclusion of children with special needs. \r\n\r\nAdditionally, I have volunteered at the Geneva Centre for Autism in their Social Skills program and also at the Hospital for Sick Children as a Child Life Volunteer. Finally, I worked last summer as a Summer Literacy Worker at the Hamilton Public Library. In this role I was in charge of the design and the implementation of the Summer Reading Buddies program for children 6-12 years of age. I was also in charge of coordinating Reading Buddies volunteers. Finally, in this role, I also facilitated the various drop-in programs offered by the library in the summer. I have had ample experience working with children with children with special needs. In all of my placements I interacted with children with special needs and also in my volunteer experiences. For example, I worked extensively with children with special needs at the Holland Bloorview Rehabilitation Hospital. I was responsible for adapting programming so that it was appropriate for both children with special needs and their siblings who dropped in to the program. Additionally, in my work with Geneva Centre for Autism, I worked with children with Autism Spectrum Disorder. \r\n\r\nFurther, at my placement at the Toronto Children\'s Services- Special Services Unit I helped implement interventions such as social stories to help support the children with special needs in various programs.
