Early Childhood Educator in Edmonton, Alberta

My name is Lucas Smart. My wife and I live in Edmonton, and are both educators. I am looking for challanging work which focuses on developing intellectual, emotional and physical abilities. I got into education because I wanted to help students become active and effective citizens of the world. Below are a list of my skills, educational priorities and qualifications. * I am a University of Alberta Secondary Education graduate with an interm teaching certificate (equivalent to level 3 child care certification). * I have experience resource teaching in pre-K Montessori as well as student teaching in Jr. and Senior high school. I also worked at an Out of School Care centre for the past two years, guiding the development of children aged 4 to 12. Currently I am tutoring students from grade 4 to university. * I am extremely creative and empathetic, and I use this to try to create fun learning opportunities for all my students. * I can create effective lesson plans for a variety of student interests and ages, which can range in scope from an hour to a week. I also have an interest in project based learning that puts the emphasis on student action and creativity. * I have an extensive background in physical sciences, and love to help students discover the natural world. * I have limited theatrical experience, coupled with extensive experience in collective storytelling. I would be very interested in using drama to create learning opportunities. * I have a Standard First Aid and CPR/AED level C training.
