I am an educator with a multitude of teaching and organizational skills that provides a sound academic environment that is both nurturing and wholistic to the students in my classroom. I have a wide range of teaching experience and in depth understanding and development of the curriculum in the primary and junior divisions. Academically, I have a keen focus on creating innovative hubs with personalized instruction plans and goals for each student in my classroom. My assessment, planning and delivery of the curriculum is centered around each student’s interest, profile, strengths and weaknesses, planning on how each student learns differently. I have the unique ability to provide a wholistic approach to learning in the classroom that incorporates all aspects of school life, including; sound understanding of academic material, innovative thinking, problem solving, leadership development, building effective communication skills (written and oral), and character development. For example; to balance the literacy program in my classroom, I engage students in uninterrupted blocks of reading, writing, oral communication and word study. For English Language Learners (ELL) I encourage and ensure the use of extra tools (bi-lingual dictionary, personalized word study books, picture books) to aid their learning experience. For the math program, I work closely with the students to help build mathematical fluency by working on problem solving, reasoning and critical thinking skills and with the use of numerous math resources (activities, games, assistive technology and mental math). • Additional qualifications in ESL, Reading, Special Education and ASL.
