Early Childhood Educator in Newmarket, Ontario

My experience with children dates back much longer than my ECE accreditation. I discovered my passion for working with children when I babysat for the first time, aged 13, and haven't looked back since. I have worked with a variety of age groups, through ECE field placement experiences, paid employment, and also on a voluntary basis through the church that I attend. At the centre in which I am currently working, I play a role as a lead teacher of the kindergarten readiness program, as well as an assistant in other classrooms when required. My last ECE field placement before graduation was at a school for children with special needs, giving me four months of priceless experience, in which I will never forget. I worked mainly with children who were on the autism spectrum at this school, however I have also worked with children with autism in the after school program I worked at as well. I have worked with other special needs as well, most commonly; down\\\'s syndrome and cerebral palsy. I am extremely comfortable working with children with special needs in both exclusively special needs programs as well as integrated classrooms. In my current daycare, I care for one child diagnosed with autism, and numerous other children showing signs of developmental delays.
