Early Childhood Educator in Toronto, Ontario

Highly motivated, enthusiastic and able to take initiative and follow the cues of the children and staff with in the center. I demonstrate a strong commitment to childcare and the overall development, health and safety of children. While performing my duties as an Early Childhood Education student I worked closely as a team with the teachers, support staff and families at each of my placements. Through an eagerness to learn from my time at each center while working with various age groups, I performed documenting children’s activities and accidents. I communicate with children based on developmentally appropriateness and with a nurturing positive affect. I apply knowledge of the Child Care and Early Years Act, as well as the Early Learning for Every Child Today document and the Full Day Early Learning for Kindergarten Program document. I currently hold a valid standard first aid certification including infant and child cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), as well as a valid vulnerable person’s police background screening. I recently graduated from an Early Childhood Education Diploma program at Seneca College, which I enjoyed considerably. After working for twenty years in the hospitality industry as a Operations Manager I gained experience in dealing with the public, as well as working with the Occupational Health and Safety Act, Ministry of Labour, Toronto Public Health, and the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario. My passion has always been to enter the field of childcare and after becoming a single mother I became affiliated with Children’s Services to acquire Child Care subsidy, which made me decide to pursue my Diploma in this field. With the assistance of The Career Foundation and the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities, I was able to secure Second Career funding to pursue my dream and receive my Diploma with a 3.9 GPA.
