Your position calls for an individual with experience in collaboratively planning and implementing a full day learning program, providing supervision and age appropriate programming and environments that support children’s overall development. I graduated from Humber College of Applied Arts and Technology August 1993 with a diploma in the Early Childhood Education program. The knowledge that I have gained in my courses at Humber College, workshops and the hands on experience throughout the years makes me an excellent candidate for this position. As an Early Childhood Educator, I understand the different strengths, needs and interests that we as educators bring to the classroom. In my field experience, including kindergarten settings, I have constantly observed children in order to get an overall understanding of them and the influence of the environment on their development, behaviour and interactions. I also have had the opportunity to work collaboratively with staff to implement an emergent curriculum through various developmentally appropriate play based experiences, addressing individual student’s needs and interests. I have used a variety of open ended materials and age appropriate yet challenging learning experiences in large and small group settings which have helped children build literacy and cognitive skills. I have reported my observations and student’s progress to the parents in a positive, sensitive and polite way. I have worked collaboratively as a dedicated team member in ensuring a smooth and delivery of the program for the children and families. I have been privileged to build a great repour with many parents over the years. Through daily planning, I have developed environments that create opportunities for development and interaction among students to promote independence and confidence. I have incorporated in the classroom, environment materials that address every individual child’s skill levels and arranged the environment for two or more children to interact. I have also incorporated free expression activities that allow children to explore and use their own imagination to achieve a goal and continued success for the future. This position requires an individual who is a team player. I believe after review of my resume it clearly shows my experience at Humber College in my past field placements and the many years of hands on experience has helped my gain this valuable skill. In health and safety practises and updating CPR yearly, this has given me the necessary knowledge on the use of health and safety standard procedures. I have applied this knowledge on a daily basis by constantly supervising children indoors and outdoors performing playground safety check lists, keeping attendance of the children and head counts of the children. I also have maintained a hygienic and safe environment by ensuring hand washing of the children, sanitizing of play materials, tables and scanning of the environment for safety hazards.
