Early Childhood Educator in Winnipeg, Manitoba

For the past five and a half years, I have worked in two different childcare centers and one educational institute. Through these experiences, I was able to meet children of all ages (from infants to elementary school students) and became a professional early childhood educator. I started working for Yellow Ribbon Daycare Center after graduating University. Working as an educator of seven-year-old children (Canadian age six) for two years, I made curriculums yearly, monthly and weekly for eighteen children based on their growth and development. The children in my class worked on twelve different projects, revolving around Me and My Family, and the Earth and Environment. They also learned about safety and fundamental habits. It was such a rewarding experience for me to see their noticeable growth from little children to well-rounded individuals. Meeting over two hundred children as a fairytale storyteller, I came to understand one thing. That is, children learn by playing. I still remember the first day I met Youngseo. She was 24 months old and she was the youngest one in my class. She didn’t even know how to sit. At first, I was worried about teaching her. However, thinking that no one is too young to learn, I started giving her lessons. I prepared various fun activities (arts & craft, cooking, puppet play, etc.) based on her interest and stage of development. After two years, she became a bilingual and a nationwide representative model for the institute. As an educator, my goal is making all children happy while fostering their growth.
