Early Childhood Educator in Surrey, British Columbia

I have volunteered and worked with children in many different capacities. I have worked with children in a health care setting as a volunteer for the pediatric department at surrey memorial hospital. This role involved engaging children ranging from toddlers to teenagers in different leisure activities. As a therapeutic riding volunteer I assist children with varying capabilities through their lessons by providing physical and emotional support. My role often involves assisting children onto their horse, helping them with their exercises and motivating them throughout their ride. I have also worked as a respite worker for a child with disabilities. While working with this child I created a safe and positive environment to help facilitate play and learning. This involved me planning and implementing various social activities, physical exercises, and learning practices. I have volunteered with the learning disabilities association of Windsor, where I encouraged children with various disabilities to participate in activities that would help them learn appropriate social and behavioral skills. This involved promoting an atmosphere of success for all children by modifying activities to meet the needs of each unique child. I have spent this last summer working as a Nature Club instructor for Camp Sasamat, I had the opportunity to provide care and program facilitation for the youngest attendees (4-5 years of age) at Camp Sasamat. Each week I worked with my team to develop fun, enthusiastic and stimulating programs for our group of children. These programs encouraged the children to connect and develop their comfort with nature, learn through play, and strengthen their social development. I was also involved with before and aftercare during which I was responsible for the supervision of up to 40 children.
