Early Childhood Educator in Ottawa, Ontario

I am an OCT certified teacher looking to expand my skill-sets and gain experience in all areas of education. One of the things I love about helping shape an early love of learning is creating an environment which is a place filled with activity where children are busy doing, discovering and trying things out. In a team environment I am very comfortable working with other staff to achieve such an environment in a way which is safe and enjoyable for everyone involved. Throughout my year of full-time teaching in the private sector, I have had many valuable growing experiences in both my pedagogy and class management techniques: specifically in how to employ best practices such as differentiating instruction to facilitate optimal learning. I believe that these experiences would help me be effective in any area of the education sector. My relevant qualifications include my Honours Specialization in Psychology and minor in Women's Studies in addition to my Bachelors of Education in the Primary/Junior division, Reading Part 1 additional qualification, and Special Education Part 1 and 2 additional qualifications. Prior to my teaching experiences I helped facilitate the SNAP (special needs autism program) Aquatics program with the city of Ottawa. I have also been lucky enough to have the opportunity to write IEPs (individual education plans). Also of note is my recent action research in differentiated instruction/literacy best practices at the Kindergarten level. I have been working with children, teaching swimming, dance, camp counselling, and more, and have loved its since I was a 12-year-old babysitter. I look forward to any opportunities to further learn and develop my skills in the field I love.
