Early Childhood Educator in Calgary, Alberta

I have a BSc in Physical Education and Geography and have taught for six years in high school. During my first year as a graduate I worked as a substitute teacher of PE & Geography at leaving certificate level, along with a Transition Year program on Peer Coaching. I worked for the Department of Education both in an all-girls Catholic School along with an all-boys Christian Brother’s School. In 2008-201... I held a permanent position as a full time educator in a Catholic ethos based Community School. I taught the subjects PE and Geography to higher and ordinary level, also teaching the subjects Social Education to Leaving Certificate group and Civil, Social & Political Education (CSPE) to my first year tutor group. I held the position of department lead for four years with three under my supervision, along with over 600 pupils. I analyzed new perspectives on assessment and its developmental impact across the curriculum. Having being part of a select cohort in my school, I took part in Assessment for Learning program, resulting in implementing curriculum, structural and behavioural reforms through collaboration with departmental colleagues. I attended training programs on new SAQ Fundamental Movement & Performance with subsequent responsibility to train co-workers in the field of Special Educational Physical Education. This also involved developing best practice processes, report building and presentation through continued use of Microsoft Office, my resume will highlight this experience in detail. Having worked in the oil and gas industry for the past three years I am pursuing a change and return to my roots, and to what I enjoy doing. Working with youth is a passion of mine having learnt a lot from establishing, directing and teaching in my own gymnastics club in Ireland. I am adept at handling tight deadlines working in a fast-paced and ever changing environment. I would bring a broad range of skills, including; • Management • Planning • Organizational • Budgetary • Analytical Ideally I am seeking an opportunity that would allow for focused development of my career, with the area of early education being of particular interest in which I would like to develop. I am currently awaiting Canadian accreditation and would require a Letter of Authority to allow me to teach until I complete the English Literature and Composition requirements.
