Early Childhood Educator in Toronto, Ontario

I currently am working full time in a Kindergarten age room where I work along side with another ECE. In this role I am responsible for creating and implementing weekly program plans that reflect diversity, play-based learning and emergent curriculum; monitoring and updating room to ensure it fits the Toronto criteria; ensuring children are safe through observations, supervision and good hygiene practices; carried out transitions and the program in a consistent and thoughtful manner; communicated effectively with parents and other day care staff to ensure that the needs of the children were met and completed required documentation such as observations, field trips forms and accident reports. I also supplied from February 2015 to July 2015 at both West End Parents Day Care and Centro-Clinton Daycare in toddler and preschool rooms. In this role I carried out the program of the rooms that I was in; I communicated with regular room staff to ensure that children’s needs were met; I developed different strategies to establish relationships with the children and I carried out transitions and the program in a thoughtful manner. In addition, through my education at George Brown College I completed four seven-week placements with toddlers, preschoolers, school age children and special needs children. As a student ECE, I worked with special needs preschool children at Centennial Infant & Child Centre. I learning how to implement individual education plans to meet each child’s unique developmental needs and I developed different strategies to carry out transitions.
