Early Childhood Educator in Oakville, Ontario

I have an abundance of experience working with children in a variety of settings. I\\\'m currently teaching an elementary class of six students with special needs. The past two summers I worked as an ESL Director and teacher, and I taught English to international students, ages 7-16. Apart from teaching English for two hours a day, I was also responsible for teaching other activities (i.e. Volleyball, kayaking, fishing, cycling, archery, soccer, arts & crafts, etc). I had other camp related responsibilities such as programing, running activities or sports, and engaging with the campers during free time. The campers went on weekly trips to Wonderland, or Niagara falls, and I was responsible for supervising the campers, taking attendance, setting up an hourly check in point, ensuring that we follow our itinerary.I also worked for YMCA as a camp counselor and Assistant Team Leader. My duties included developing and providing a safe, caring, fun and stimulating environment for the children registered in the School Age Before and After School Program. Responsibilities include preparing healthy snacks, supervising children, and organizing games or activities for the children. As a Special Education teacher I have taught students with moderate to profound developmental delays (i.e. Autism, Global Development Delay, Downs Syndrome, etc.) at both elementary and secondary level. I have implemented an individualized program based on the TEACCH model because it allows me to support and address the individual needs, abilities and interests of each student. The program is very much activity-based, I create unique learning opportunities for each student that uses a variety of approaches (i.e. technology, concrete materials, etc.). I\\\'m certified in Applied Behaviour Analysis and I have been implementing the techniques to address problematic behaviours in my class.
