Early Childhood Educator in Guelph, Ontario

When I was finally old enough to babysit I started babysitting as much as I could. I enjoyed the idea of helping others and also being independent while making my own money. I also have two brothers who are over 10 years younger than myself. I helped out my mother as much as possible with them since I enjoyed it and it made her life easier. When I was in grade school I attended a Leadership Camp for kids that was funded by the school board and teachers were in charge. It was amazing and I got invited back to be a camp advisor all throughout high school. Being around the children and helping them discover new ways to use their minds really helped me decide that I wanted to work with kids in any way I could. That is why I decided to get my Bachelor of Education. During this time I saw many different teaching styles and got to connect with various personalities of students. It was always hard to leave placement once you start getting attached to the children. I really value the time I have spent in the classroom or at camps and I want to continue to extend these experiences. Throughout University I volunteered at inner city schools in Windsor where I grew up. It was an eye opening experience as many of the students were undernourished or had disabilities. I started to realize that all children learn in different ways and you have to accommodate that. I also took a class specifically for Special Needs children in University where we made Individual Education Plans for students as well as other accommodations.
