Early Childhood Educator in Montreal, Quebec

Hello My name is Salina Melim and am a high energy, enthusiastic person with many years of experience working with children of different ages. Before i began working in the daycare field, I volunteered and worked at the YMCA youth center with children ages 10-18 years of age. In collaboration with the youth center, i was also an animator in elementary schools. I was in charge of organizing and executing age appropriate games for children in pre-K -grade 6. I am very skilled in creating and implementing curriculum that best suits the need of individual children. I am mainly familiar with both the Montessori and High scope curriculum. However, i am very open to new approaches and am always willing to learn new techniques. I have worked as both a educator with my own class and a special needs teacher. I have worked as a special needs teacher for five years. Most of the children i have worked with have trouble with behavior, language delays or are autistic. My main role was to implement a program that was specifically designed to tackle the issues of each child. I worked with each child individually, in groups or two and in their classroom with peers. You must have good communication skills and work as a team with other educators to obtain success with children. Respecting others personal space, property, religion and morals are all very important in promoting positive relationships and team building between co workers. I believe that a good teacher must always always have a positive attitude to enhance the development of all children.
