Early Childhood Educator in New York, New York

I have extensive experience teaching children 18 months-5 years old. I founded, owned, and operated Abby’s Place Inc. on Manhattan’s UWS and Auntie Abby’s Preschool LLC in Kihei, HI. I created a progressive curriculum encompassing art, story, drama, music, movement, and simple science for drop off preschool and child/adult classes. Activities are designed to advance physical, cognitive, social, and emotional development. As an artist myself, I believe art plays an integral part in education. Through dramatic play and opportunities to express themselves creatively, important learning skills are acquired. I am well versed in creating and implementing curriculum, classroom management, and parent/ guardian - teacher conferences. I focus on a dynamic process rather than product, allowing the children to safely explore. I recognize children for their individuality and respect their natural talents. I am also available for babysitting in Manhattan. As a childcare provider, I bring fun and educational materials with me. You will never come home to find your child staring at a screen, unless of course, it has been indicated to do so. I am currently working part time as an art teacher in an after school program. I am currently seeking another part time job, or if the fit is right, a full time job. I graduated Hunter College with Honors and have exhibited and sold my art work.
