Early Childhood Educator in Calgary, Alberta

I am a recently graduated from the Early Childhood Education diploma program from Sheridan College in Ontario. This course has enhanced my capabilities in caring for the basic needs of a child in their early years. From doing placements in four different types childcare centres, I have learnt how to deal with different age groups starting from 1 1/2 years to 4 years, especially when working with their extremely different temperaments. One of the most important things I believe play a key role in child care, is understanding the diverse needs of children and being able to work along side them, in order to enhance their learning experience. The different approaches used in the child care centres that I have worked with is the Reggio Emilia approach, High scope and the Emergent curriculum. Also, planning age appropriate activities and implementing them to help children's cognitive, physical and social growth is very important and making sure that you are documenting the work that the children display to help parents better understand where their child's development is at.
