I graduated from University of Toronto with Honors BSc in Psychology and Health Science, and have over 4 years of experience working with children. In my volunteer experiences, I have gained valuable experience as a teacher assistant/ classroom assistant at Mary Shadd Public School and at Hindu Cultural Society. Here I worked with students of various ages to help them better understand, speak, read, and write English. I held one-on-one sessions with kindergarten students who were learning English as a second language, and who were having specific difficulty in writing. I prepared group activities aligning with students’ needs and interests incorporating activities, which helped them gain better understanding of their cultural background. And, shared instant feedback with students to motivate children to learn and inform students of their progress. I am currently working in a Child Minding Center for over a year now, where my core responsibilities are to care for infants from 3 months of age to 12 years of age. Here I assist school going students with their homework and reading books. Working with infants, gave me a whole new perspective of childcare; learning extreme patience, and how to provide a caring, nurturing and safe environment for them. The management team has always been extremely pleased with my work and childcare ethics; as a result I have constantly received excellent performance reviews. I have proven to develop strong, and respectful relationships with my team members, patents and the children I work with. From my work experience I have refined my time management, organizations, problem solving and multitasking skills. I am a hard working and self-driven individual, with excellent communicational and interpersonal skills. I would be an excellent candidate for this opening, and would be an asset to your team.
