Early Childhood Educator in Hamilton, Ontario

My name is Rachel Teixeira. I am a graduate from the Educational Assistant program from Mohawk College. In 2014, I began working at a childcare centre in Oakville. When I started, I ran the before and after school program. I planned crafts and activities as well as assisted the children with homework and extra activities to help strengthen their skills. My second role there was as an ECA in the infant room. I worked along with 2 other co-workers and we had up to 10 infants at one time. It was challenging at times, but we made a great team and all worked together to make even the more challenging days easier. Watching the infants grow and reach new milestones was also one of the more rewarding experiences. I was also successful with building good relationships with parents and children. I also had the opportunity to be an ECA in the preschool room. I worked along side the ECE in keeping the children engaged and keeping the classroom clean and inviting for the children. I am patient, kind and hardworking. I like to learn my job and do my job well. I am friendly and I work well with people of all personalities.
