I'm an
Individual
In the field of childcare, my experiences brought me ideas an challenges of how children go about their day-to-day learning. So far, I have extended my flexibility to work with a verity of age groups, form new-born to school-age. It brings me great pleasure to familiarize myself with both parents and guardians, that leads to a better understanding of how children go about their daily life out of childcare. Through the environment, families & educators and the community, is how children learn. As an RECE, it is my responsibility to develop their play-base planning, extend their vocabulary, enhance cognitive development as well as independent play. Through observation, interaction, socialization helps me plan a good curriculum based on CCEYA & ELECT. Children demonstrates and role-play what they observed around them; whether its their parents, siblings or the community. They communicate what they want to do through actions and words. Children are the expert, we are the providers. My biggest strength is socializing with children; engaging in their playing and sitting at their level, having meals with them and interacting with parents. With the advice of my peers and the permission of the supervisor, I extend the invitation for parents and guardians to interact with their kids in the centre, share their ethnicity with us, whether its cooking, reading a story or something that will sparks the children's interest. I never encounter any allergies with children but had to administer medication to children with the permission of parents and supervisor. I enjoy "going the extra mile." Sometimes, I have a few challenges when it come to problem solving which I handled quite well. (I am not an expert yet, I do my best). I do have a great deal of love for children, it is my passion to work with children.
Children with different abilities is considered a learning experience for me. They are very persistent based on what they want and when they want that thing or object or going somewhere. Sometimes, I have to let them know that, that object or thing will hurt their body or it is not safe to go there, you will hurt yourself or fall. Chores, I make it a competition, for example; let's see who is going to finish tiding the toys, or I'll race you to the sink for hand washing. I use visual pictures for transitioning, singing songs or making silly actions with the body or face when they are sad. Depends on their ability(ies), I meet them half-way
