Attention - Jen Miller,
I would like to express my interest in the early childhood education position. By utilizing the leadership, counseling and mentoring abilities obtained during my career in social services and applying these transferable skills to continue to be a creative and compassionate early childhood educator.
As a Residential Counselor at Adelaide Youth Centre with WAYS Mental Health Support, I have established the following skills and abilities that are relevant to the the early childhood educator position:
I have gained strong problem solving skills as well as organizational abilities due to the need to multi task and meet the complete mulitple needs of each client. As a case manager, I have completed duties in the development of goals and facilitation of learning programs with children and youth to support growth and cognitive development. I have been able to work with a diverse population of children and youth during difficult times while remaining positive and enthusiastic. My strong communication skills (written and verbal) have been established through ongoing professional correspondence with community partners, clients and their families. This includes acting as a liaison with many community resources and extensive assessment of needs and how to creatively work toward goals with clients. I have confidently prepared thorough documentation in accordance with facility policies and procedures and hold a valid CPR/First Aid level C with AED as well as crisis intervention and trauma training including cognitive behavioral therapy. I have extensive experience in facilitating creative and dynamic skills building workshops with clients including; girls groups, budgeting, self esteem building and sensory groups.
My history volunteering with Big Brothers Big Sisters of London and Area has been an excellent opportunity to explore and be creative with several different types of play essential for strong early childhood development, some include; cooperative play, associative play, constructive and physical play. As a mentor I was able develop many unique and dynamic ways to engage children while developing essential physical, cognitive, social and emotional skills.
I have obtained many transferable skills in relation to the early childhood educator position. If I can provide further information with respect my background and qualifications, please contact me at (519)520.... I am excited at the prospect of starting a long-term career with the London Bridge Child Care Services. Thank you for your time and consideration.
Best regards!
Melissa Wilkins
