Early childhood educator Job in Calgary, Alberta

The University Childcare Centre West Campus location is a licensed, accredited, nonprofit child care centre with children aged 3 months to Kindergarten age. We are a dynamic group of educators that are passionate about the FLIGHT framework and GRIT (ASaP Project). We are currently seeking a vibrant educator to join our team that is playful, professional, demonstrates effective classroom management, and will contribute to our centres culture of teamwork and growth.
The successful candidate will:
• be familiar and have a working knowledge of FLIGHT: Alberta's Early Learning and Childcare Framework
• have strong child guidance skills and techniques
• an ability to communicate openly and respectfully with team members
• *the ability to plan and implement an exciting play based curriculum on a daily basis
• understand and the value of observation and documentation of children and their play to inform their practice
Job description includes:
• Plan and implement a play based emergent curriculum including planned and spontaneous activities and provocations
• Enthusiasm for outdoor play with children
• Follow daily routines for children in each room
• Engage with children, families and peers in a positive manner
• Maintain consistency and follow through with safety and behaviour expectations for the room
• Be willing to train with our GRIT 9ASaP project regarding supporting children social and emotional literacy and well-being)
Maintain a healthy and safe environment for children and staff
• Continuous awareness of any possible dangers/hazards in children’s environment
• Ensure proper hygiene practices of staff and children
• Sanitizing and household tasks
• Keep toys and equipment clean
Communicate with staff, families and children effectively and respectfully
• Always model tactful communication and a positive, professional attitude
• Relay basic information about children’s day to families
• Meet with families to discuss screenings etc. as needed
Qualifications:
• Child Development Supervisor (formerly Level 3)
• Current First Aid Certification (Child CPR)
• Current Police Check (within 6 months or willing to obtain)
• Family and Social Services Intervention Check

The successful applicant must have experience in early childhood settings. Candidates will have an understanding of licensing regulations, health regulations and accreditation standards and be able and willing to maintain standards at all times.

• Able to stay calm in stressful situations
Please note that we are easily accessible by transit. Paid parking lots are located on campus but each staff is responsible for parking costs.
