The University Child Care Centre Society is a not-for-profit charitable organization located on the beautiful University of Calgary Campus that has been providing quality childcare since 1976 to children of full-time students, staff and faculty of the U of C (infant age to kindergarten). UCCCS's two purpose-built facilities are overseen by one Executive Director and each location has a Program Director and a Program Coordinator on the Leadership team. We provide care for over 200 children and have approximately 60 full-time employees and 20 part-time and relief staff. We are governed by a Board of Directors consisting of U of C Board of Governors appointed members, elected parent representatives and student representatives. Our hours of operation are from 7:30 am to 5:30 pm Monday thru Friday.
Reason for Job Posting:
The UCCCS's Main Campus Program Director is retiring at the end of June 2021. In our quest for excellence and our vision to continue to provide high quality care and early learning experiences for our children and families, we are seeking a Program Director of the highest caliber to lead our Main Campus Team.
Function/ Scope:
The Program Directors at the UCCC Society are responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations and overall supervision of the childcare programs and staff team at their assigned location. The Program Directors report directly to the Executive Director and work closely with their centre's Program Coordinator, as well as the leadership team at the other site.
Qualifications, summary of expectations and required attributes:
• CDS/ ECE Level 3 Qualification Certificate from Alberta Human Services Day Care Staff Qualifications
• Minimum of a Diploma in Early Childhood Education and Development; Degree or Applied Degree in either Early Childhood or in Child Studies is preferred & recommended.
• Required to have and keep updated, a current First Aid Certificate in both CPR and Child Care First Aid.
• Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Search and Child Welfare Check is required.
• Completion of Food Handlers Course is required.
• Excellent communication skills with a team-focused approach, ability to lead people and develop strong connections with parents and staff is required.
• Experience working in multi-faceted programs is desirable.
*Previous leadership experience is a must, specifically a minimum of 2 years’ experience in an Alberta regulated Child Care Centre in a leadership capacity is required*
Summary of Duties, Responsibilities, Tasks Functions and Accountabilities:
• Strategic Leadership and Supervision of Programs
• Staff Development and Evaluation (Prof Dev, workshops, performance concerns, etc.)
• Licensing Responsibilities
• Quality Programming Responsibilities
• Financial Responsibilities (including budget, payroll, child care fees)
• Communication (with staff, families, leadership team, U of C reps and the UCCCS Board; provides feedback, completes observations, conducts staff meetings, emails, responsible for written monthly centre updates)
• Community Connections (serves on community projects, mentors ECE students)
• Other duties as required and/ or assigned by the Executive Director
• Wait List (assists/ supports Program Coordinator with this)
• Oversees Kitchen operations
Compensation:
• competitive wages ($24 per hour base salary = $49920/year) Gov't Wage Enhancement $6.62/hr

• starts with 3 weeks holidays after 1 year of services, bumps up to 4 weeks holidays after 3 years and 5 weeks holidays after 5 years
