Early Childhood Educator in Kanata, Ontario

I have a lot of experience working and volunteering with children.I have taught dance 2 times a week for 3 years to children ages 3-6 teaching them the basics of dance and giving them the knowledge to move up to the next level. I have also done my co-op at an elementary school with grade one children being a teachers assistant, working one on one with children and assisting them in their reading and writing and working specifically with 3 special needs children who needed extra assistance than other children in the class. I have also done a lot of babysitting, with a six month old and a three year old, feeding and putting them to sleep and also babysitting a 12 year old picking her up from school and helping her with homework or any problems that she needed assistance with. I have also done tutoring with a 10 year old, helping her with her reading and writing and helping her with further knowledge she needed to write short stories and poems. I have a lot of experience with various ages of children over the years and I would like to be a social worker so working at a camp would further my experience to be able to peruse my career. I have direct experience in my life with children with special needs as my brother has autism. Growing up with him was challenging at times when it was hard to understand what he was saying but he has given me so much patience and he was what inspired me to want to become a social worker. I love taking him out to the movies and doing what he likes to do and he has taught me so much over the years that I want to work with special needs children seeing how far he has come over the years and always showing me its possible to achieve your goals. I have also volunteered at a group called \\\"Typical Teens\\\" that is a group of high functioning autistic children. Once a week I would take them out on social outings and be a positive role model for them and show them how you are supposed to act when you are out and what is good behaviour or not. We would go to the movies or bowling or shopping which was a really great experience to see how the children would react to each of the social events and I learned a lot from watching them in these settings. Also from working in the school with the 3 students with special needs they were all age 5-6 so I have a lot of experience working with younger children with special needs but also older.
