Early Childhood Educator in Toronto, Ontario

Dear Hiring Professional: I am very interested in the position of RECE. I graduated from George Brown College in June 2009 with my certificate in Early Childhood Education. I believe that my education, my passion for my work, and my experience has prepared me to be the perfect candidate for this position. Through working in various environments and with children in different stages of development (toddlers, preschoolers and school-age) I have vastly increased my knowledge in this profession over the years. Parents are also pleased with the constructive feedback I am able to provide to them on their child’s progress and behaviour. I am highly capable of creating many different programs that both engage & stimulate the children. At Network Child Care Services, my daily duties were to plan, develop, administer and supervise a Before and After Child Care Program for 70 children ages 44 months to 13years; coordinate and schedule 7 staff for program operation; train, supervise and evaluate staff; ensure the delivery of age appropriate educational and recreational programs, billing, payroll, scheduling, and registration duties; maintain accurate records and reports; ensure the well-being and safety of all children and the effective operation of the centre. At Little Stars Daycare, one of my primary responsibilities is designing a curriculum using the ELECT framework to support early learning through the six principles. My creative side not only makes children comfortable with me, it also allows me to design curriculum that works well. I have provided a few highlights below but my resume, which I have attached, provides additional information on my background and qualifications. Throughout my tenure I have always ensured a safe and healthy environment for all the children under my care. While working with toddlers at the Waterpark Place Child Care Centre I was lucky enough to really remember being a child again. I enjoyed sharing the floor with them to put myself at their level, making them feel more comfortable and eager to learn. At Pape Children’s House, where I worked with preschoolers, several activities required parental authorization. I’m very comfortable with maintaining ongoing communication with parents regarding children’s activities, behaviour, and development, and am quick to respond to any parental concerns as they arise. I’ve also had the privilege to work as a part-time Supply Teacher at Garrison Creek Community Day Care with school-age children and a Summer Student Teacher at Ferncliff Daycare with both preschoolers and school-age children. One of my main responsibilities included designing a curriculum for the children by planning activities based on their interest as well as on different themes.
