Early Childhood Educator in Woodbridge, Ontario

I have an excess amount of experience working with children through placements/practicums and work. I have been working with children for over 5 years in many different educational settings, such as a child care centre, therapy centres for children, and in schools. In addition with working with children, I have studied about children through my education for 5 years. I completed my ECE, then I completed a degree program called Bachelor of Child Development where I learned more about how children learn and develop from birth to 12 years old. Then I completed teachers college where I am certified to teach children in Ontario from kindergarten to grade 6. I have worked with children from 1.5 years old to 13 years old. While I was in school for 5 years, I was working at a child care centre; for 2 years I was working as an ECA and for three years I was working as an RECE. I am currently still a Registered Early Childhood Educator and I am also an Ontario Certified Teacher. Now I am an Occasional Teacher for York Catholic District School Board and I teach children from kindergarten to grade 8. I have a great amount of experience working with children with special needs. While I was in school and in my placements, I worked with children with autism in child care centres and in schools. While I was working as an RECE, I had experience working with children with autism and down syndrome. I created programs and activities that allowed those children to work individually and in small/large groups. The program would mainly help strengthen their social skills. While I was in the program Bachelor of Child Development, I completed an Internship and worked at Shining Through for Children with Autism. I worked with children with autism as an IBI/ABA Therapist where I effectively implemented ABA therapy-based programs, behavioural and educational programs. The students who I was working with was from the aged of 5 to 18 years old and were low functioning. During teachers college, I completed practicums where I had students in my class with Tourette syndrome and autism. During those practicums, I developed lesson plans that had modifications and accommodations for those students so they were able to participate in the lessons. I also had an Internship where I was in a Community Class for children with autism with low to high functioning students. While I was in this class, I worked with the teachers and the students in one-on-one and in small groups to help build their social skills, mathematics and literacy skills.
