Early Childhood Educator in Calgary, Alberta

Hi there! I am an enthusiastic, hard working, and committed Level 2 educator. I have over 1 year of experience under my belt, and I am excited to gain more! I have plenty of experience working with children and youth. From September 2014-June 2015 I did a clinical internship Where I tutored and mentored high school aged children. Many of them presenting with psychological and or learning disorders. I came up with strategies and activities that the students could use to help them excel at school, as well as writing mid and end of year progress reports. I also conducted parent meetings to discuss any progress or difficulties the student may have been having. I have Also worked at St. Georges school of Montreal as a reader and tutor for students with reading comprehension difficulties. For about 5 years now I’ve also been a youth group leader a church. The church is located in an impoverished area. So the youth group leaders and I provide mentorship as well as a safe environment for the youth to have fun. Currently I volunteer at the Concordia Infant Research Laboratory, where we conduct many studies to learn more about the linguistic abilities of very young infants aged 5months - 5years. I've volunteered with a speech therapist and we worked with children who had special needs. To played games with them, and I created activities to help them learn and communicate with us. Most of my experiences with children with special needs consisted of teaching them and catering to their learning styles.
