Description Dearham Wood Daycare 66 Dearham Wood Scarborough, ON M1E 1S4 RECE: Full Time position Start Date: Immediately, No phone calls please ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Qualifications • Minimum of 2 years experience as R.E.C.E with Preschool and/or School Age children; must possess strong Behaviour Management skills Experience planning and implementing a play-based, Emergent Curriculum • Knowledge of Pictorial documentation, able to photograph, print and display classroom experiences • Thorough knowledge of the CCEYA, How Does Learning Happen? and ELECT • Current Clear Police Reference Check for the Vulnerable Sector and up-to-date Immunizations • Valid Standard First Aid and Infant/Child CPR-C certification (WSIB approved) • Strong interpersonal and English communication skills (both verbal and written) • Familiarity with the City of Toronto's AQI is a requirement • Hold a Registered Early Childhood Education Diploma from an accredited institution or it's equivalent • Must have proof of current registration with the College of Registered Early Childhood Education and be a member in good standing Skills • Demonstrate professional judgment on a daily basis within the guidelines set out by the Governing Acts, regulations, by-laws and Centre policies • Demonstrate leadership skills - ability to work successfully and positively in a team-teaching environment including managing, leading, motivating, coaching and mentoring staff • Demonstrate strong problem solving skills including effectively handling emergencies and hostile behaviours • Experience with technology associated with computers, iPads and other resources • Knowledge of Hi Mama application • Working knowledge of the Ministry of Education's Child Care Early Years Act (CCEYA) and the City of Toronto’s Assessment for Quality Improvement (AQI) • Working knowledge of relevant requirements and legislation as per the Ministry of Labour including Occupational Health and Safety • Working knowledge of Toronto Public Health's requirements and standards • Working knowledge of Centre based serious occurrences as outlined by legislation • Willingness to be flexible, versatile and/or tolerant in a changing work environment while maintaining effectiveness and efficiency • Ability to work independently, managing time and workload • Possess excellent behaviour guidance skills that include positive reinforcement and redirection strategies • Experience with writing informative and professional evaluations and reports on children • Experience with children requiring extra support needs • Minimum 3 references (preferably Supervisors from previous employment positions in a child care setting) Responsibilities: • Work with the child care “team” to ensure that the programs are in accordance with the Ministry of Education's Child Care Early Years Act and the City of Toronto’s Assessment for Quality Improvement • Work any shift as required – to be discussed during the interview process • Develop and implement with your “team” individual and group curriculums for Preschool children incorporating the ELECT and HDLH Framework • Ensure that the Program Philosophy and Behaviour Guidance Policies of the Centre is upheld • Ability to successfully carry out administrative duties as required • Possess the skills and interest towards successfully providing enrichment activities, recreational activities, sports and active games for children • Excellent command of the English language (both oral and written); highly developed interpersonal skills and the ability to co-operate, follow instructions and make difficult decisions; ability to deal with conflict • Comfortable in a Team environment that is fast paced and very creative • Must be responsive to family and staff needs; have strong problem solving skills; ability to evaluate and ensure the curriculum meets the needs of children and families • Demonstrate ability to work with families in complex situations and from a variety of cultures • Skills and interests in creative art, drama, music, science, literacy and numeracy programs • A genuine love and commitment towards the Early Childhood Profession and working with young children If you are a dynamic, caring, self-motivated and flexible individual who is seeking a fulfilling and interesting position in a warm and professional environment, please forward your resume and cover letter Attention: Patti Pickett (Supervisor) SUMMARY OF THE POSITION The Program Staff must have a high degree of emotional and physical stamina, a high level of empathy, maturity, patience, objectivity and have the capacity to form meaningful relationships with children, their families, staff and volunteers. • Full Time position: 37.5 hours/week plus occasional non-program evening hours • Starting date: As soon as possible • Compensation: commensurate with experience Job Type: Full-time
