Early Childhood Educator in Toronto, Ontario

Hi! My name is Hannah and I'm 22 years old. I'm from Ireland, however I will be moving to Toronto in August with a desire to join an Early Childhood team. I've recently finished a four year degree level in Early Childhood Care and Education in Dublin and I'm excited to build on my current knowledge within the field. I thoroughly enjoyed my 4 years and believe this is the career path for me. I am able to work on my own initiative or as part of a team. I am a caring, determined and trustworthy person who thrives on the inspiration, positivity and happiness a child can bring. In 2014 I attended Camp Lokanda, NY, working as a camp counsellor for 7 & 8 year old girls for 8 weeks. As a leader, role model and moral compass to campers my main duty was overall supervision. I ensured the camp experience was as fun and rewarding as possible for the children. Living with the campers, it was my responsibility to promote, support and encourage camper participation in all activities. My role involved helping campers plan, carry out and evaluate projects and activities. Here, I have gained a significant amount of experience and am eager to develop my skills further. I have carried out 24 weeks work experience in two early childhood settings during my degree course. Again, my confidence has increasing grown because of this. Throughout, it was my duty to provide and maintain a safe and comfortable environment, where I could develop routines, plans and implement lessons around the children’s needs and most importantly, around their interests! I've also had the advantage of spending time with children of diverse backgrounds i.e. cultures/religions/ethnicities and additional needs. Due to this, I've developed a keen interest in promoting equality and diversity, I believe children need to be familiar with difference from an early age. In my opinion, it should be seen as a benefit to an early years setting and should not be ignored. I believe children are the powerful drivers of our future generation. My course work and experience has fully equipped me to succeed in an Early Years environment. Toronto has always been a dream of mine and I'm finally getting to live it, doing what I love-hopefully! I have a passion for this career and I would very much hope that you would look favourably at my application. Hannah
