Early Childhood Educator in Ottawa, Ontario

In middle school I was a leader in training (LIT) at a summer camp. My responsibilities included: • Setting up and cleaning up activities • Assisting in activities such as explain the steps and facilitating problem solving • Supervising children in both the indoor and outdoor environment as well as on field trips. In high school I had a cooperative placement in a junior and senior kindergarten class room My responsibilities included: • Assisting the teachers in all routines and transitions • Help develop whole child • Photo copying • Responsible for children in after school care (responsible for planning activities or helping with homework) In collage I had three field placements, two in senior preschool and one in an before and after school program. My responsibilities included: • Bringing in supplies for the children • Maintaining a safe environment • Planning developmentally appropriate activities • Writing observations on the children and sharing with the staff and parents when appropriate • Assisting in all routines and transitions for the first two and tasking the lead on the last • Guiding the children’s behaviour in an appropriate way • Participating in team meetings • Sanitising tables after snack • Rotating toys when children were no longer interested in them After collage I have been a supply ECE in a toddler and a preschool program. My responsibilities included: • Set up and supervise activities • Maintain a safe indoor and outdoor environment • Assisted children in toileting needs • Served snack I have also been a caregiver for one child age three. My responsibilities included: • Plan and implement activities such as outings • Provide healthy meals • Restock household supplies • Maintain a clean and safe house • Laundry • Discuses child’s day and any concerns • Provide parents with resources such as first word, toy lending libraries and support groups I have had some experience with children who are on the Autism spectrum.
