Early Childhood Educator in Hamilton, Ontario

My experience in the field of early childhood education began when I was in grade ten. My volunteering position opened my eyes to the career that I am very passionate about. I am a graduate of Mohawk College in which I obtained my diploma in Early Childhood Education and certificate in Child Development Practitioner with honours. I am currently enrolled at Brock Univeristy for the Bachelor of Early Childhood Education program, I would obtain my Bachelors in 2020. From caring for infants to working with 12 year-old children, my years of experience exceed seven years. My experience ranges from full time preschool teacher, before and after school programs, day camps, home daycare volunteer, school board volunteer in kindergarten and grade one. During these years working in the field, I have come to realize while working in kindergarten and grade one and two many children struggle with writing and mathematics. The need is very high in the early primary years of schools. After witnessing this need year after year, I have developed a passion for more organized education in the early years of childhood. With this being said, I also hold in high value the emergent curriculum in a sense that it excites the children to learn about a certain interest area. From there these areas can be taken where ever the children direct it. Working both organized education and the children's interest I believe will set children up for success in both academics and human relations. I myself am a positive, hardworking, dedicated, helpful, caring and energetic person who brings these qualities to every workplace and displays to every child and co-worker. I am a lover of learning and am growing in every aspect of development even as an adult. Keeping a healthy mind and body is very important to me and is something I promote to children I work with. I am looking for a positive, dedicated and energetic team to work with in a child care environment . A team who can collaborate and work together to implement meaningful curriculum for the children. An environment which values and respects the whole child no matter the race, culture, gender, class, age or ability. I am looking for opportunities to educate children in reading and writing as well as mathematics, which would be developmentally appropriate and challenging, as well as give them a sense of belonging and security with peers and teachers. I am looking for a job where I can grow as an educator, learning from both colleagues and children in a supportive learning environment. These are all things I look for in a job and will display at any job site in which I work. I absolutely love this field because of the impact us educators have on these precious young children!
