Early Childhood Educator in North York, Ontario

I provided one-to-one support in a mainstream setting for a five year old child with Down Syndrome. I supported the social, emotional, physical and academic needs of the child. I was involved in setting IEP targets during IEP review meetings and implemented the support required to achieve the targets. I also participated in Effective Inclusion Workshop-supporting children with Down Syndrome successfully in mainstream primary classroom-Cathleen O’Connor. I have also worked as an examination invigilator which involved working as a reader and scribe during examinations for students with dyslexia. I have been volunteering at Dallington Pollinators Community Garden, North York, since 2014 and my responsibilities involve creating a garden where neighbours meet to grow and care for vegetables, flowers and native plant species. I also help organize gardening workshops, seedy saturdays, art and crafts workshops for children, annual pumpkin walks and movie nights in the park for the community members. The garden is a useful and helpful guide for child and youth development. Nearby schools use it as an outdoor classroom to explore areas of science, math, life cycles and food systems. My marketing, sales and customer service experience helped me gain excellent organizational, communications and interpersonal skills and I am sure these skills will be very useful for this job. My masters degree in business administration and proficiency in the use of major business software packages will also be an asset for your school.
