Teachers and Assistant Teachers General Responsibilities: • Establishing and maintaining Montessori classroom culture, paying particular attention to the needs of students/parents new to Montessori. • Carefully observe and keep records on each student’s individual progression through the classroom always being available to offer gentle guidance, • Participate in weekly staff meetings • Complete necessary classes/trainings to meet the number of hours required for a Montessori assistant. • To be informed and carry out duties as assigned by the Lead Guide • To be familiar with the Parent’s Handbook and MMA policies • Be professional and positive in all dealings with students and parents Reports to and is Employed by: McMurray Montessori Academy Hours: 40 hours per week Requirements: The assistant teacher’s aide must meet the following basic requirements: • At least 1 year experience in a Montessori primary or toddler classroom at this age level (internship could be considered to meet this criteria) • ECE level 2 or 3 only need to apply • CPR/First Aid certification • A clear police record check • Immunization records • TB Test • Have the physical capacity to work with toddler/ pres-school/Kindergarten/School aged children (includes but is not limited to: bending, minor lifting, working on the floor) • Teacher will dress professionally and appropriately for school Lead Teacher Job Description Responsibilities: Curriculum, Materials, and School Performances • Establish and maintain Montessori classroom culture, paying particular attention to the needs of students/parents new to Montessori • Plan, prepare, and maintain all units of study, lessons, and “works” • Communicate via newsletters with parents about their children’s school lives every month • Carefully observe and keep daily records on each student’s individual progression through the classroom, always being available to offer gentle guidance To be familiar with the Parent’s Handbook and MMA policies Reports to and is Employed by: McMurray Montessori Academy Hours: 37.5 hours per week Requirements: Lead Teacher must meet the following basic requirements: • Montessori certification for primary class level and or Toddler level • At least 3 years experience in a Montessori primary classroom at the age level (internship could be considered to meet this criteria) • ECE Level 3 only need to apply • CPR/First Aid certification, TB Test, Immunization records • A clear police record check • Knowledge of Alberta Content Standards for Kindergarten • Have the physical capacity to work with Toddler, pre-school/Kindergarten aged • Children (includes but is not limited to: bending, minor lifting, and working on the floor) Contact Us at : [email protected]
