The Home Consultants have the responsibility for the recruitment and support of Providers as well as the placement of children into home child care. Your Home Consultant will visit you on a monthly basis, ensuring requirements are met and offering support to you to enhance the program planning for the children's daily activities. Communication and interpersonal skills are vital to this position along with problem solving and confidentiality Job Title: Home Child Care Consultant Reports to: Home Child Care Supervisor Job Summary To ensure that care is provided for children as set in the CCEYA 2014 for Home Day Care and West End Home Child Care policies. To exhibit professional attitudes and behaviors and act as a role model for child care providers. To support physically safe and nurturing environments that shows sensitivity to the individual needs of the children in all aspects of their development. Support the home child care program with administrative duties. Job Duties 1. Corporate • Follow all organizational policies and procedures of West End Home Child Care Services. • Be aware of the strategic plan, mission statement and guiding principles of West End Home Child Care • Knowledge of the CCEYA 2014, Canada’s food Guide 2. Operational • Prepare reports and maintain records and files as required by legislation and agency policy. • Filing of children, parent/guardian and provider paper work. • Photo copying of provider and children documentation as required. • Set up and close provider and children files. • Book First Aid and CPR training for providers. • Maintain back-up provider binder. • Complete provider binders are available at all times. • Recognize, document and take action in the case of suspected abuse, illness or accident. • Report any serious occurrences to the Program Home Child Care Supervisor and the Ministry • Co-operate and provide documentation to agencies related to the licensing process. •Recognize and have working knowledge of personnel and organizational policies and have the ability to operate the program within the provisions of these policies. • Identify and assist in the selection of home child care providers and facilities through home assessments that evaluate suitability for provision of home child care according to agency criteria. • Arrange orientation and training sessions, provide information regarding requirements, Resources to assist child care providers. • Assist parents and providers in resolving conflict. • Prepare reports and maintain record files as required by legislation and agency policy. • Recommend diverse abilities placement and arrange support with the community resource consultant and families as required. • Check toys and equipment used in activities to ensure safe functioning. • Conduct home visits to evaluate and monitor the provisions of home child care consistent with West End Home Child Care Services policies and procedures •Complete monthly, quarterly, IPAC inspections. • Provide ongoing communication with providers/staff to ensure the safety and well being of the children while in care. •Document attendance of children and prepare •Serious occurrence reports as necessary. • Promote the program/organization in all activities with the public. • Other duties as assigned. 3. Monthly Attendance • Keep up-to-date with early childhood education and advocacy developments. • Maintain regular attendance, punctuality and proper office dress code attire • Submit accurate time sheets every month for providers to get paid. 4. Communications • Report to the Supervisor. • Participate in staff meetings. • Read meeting minutes from committee, board and staff meetings. • Maintain confidentiality of all information related to the agency’s children, families and staff, Board Members and volunteers. • Use positive communication. • Read and use the communications book. • Ensure all correspondence is prepared and distributed professionally on approved letterhead or memo form and has been proofread by a staff person at the administration office. 5. Financial • Ensure correct attendance documentation payroll for home child care providers (ability to work with numbers). • Ensure approval of all purchases. 6. Health and Safety • Ensure that the Worker responsibilities under the OHAS Act are adhered to at all times. • Comply with WHMIS legislation at all times. Qualifications Education • ECE Diploma/Degree and registered with the college (minimum 2 years experience). • Familiar with the CCEYA. • Familiar with Toronto Children Services (AQI criteria) Experience • Previous experience working with administration in a licensed child care program/community setting. Requirements • Satisfactory criminal reference check • Medical as required by the local Medical Officer of Health • Standard First Aid Infant/Child/Adult CPR • Registration with College of Early Childhood Educators • own car an asset Competencies • Patience, dedication, energy, enthusiasm and caring. • Ability to deal with non-routine situations. • Ability to handle emergencies, crisis, or hostile behavior. • Ability to maintain control in frustrating situations. • Ability to work co-cooperatively with others in a team environment. • Ability to report non-routine situations to Supervisor. • Ability to accommodate competing demands. • Ability to maintain neat and accurate records. • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing with children, parents, coworkers, teachers. • Ability to maintain confidentiality of all information related to children, parents and staff. • Ability to carry/lift children and carry/lift/move moderately heavy items. Ability to use professional judgment on a daily basis within the guidelines established by CCEYA and program policies. • Willingness to work flexible hours as required.
