Early Childhood Educator Job in Calgary, Alberta

We Campers Outdoor and Sports Daycare Centre provides Daycare and Out of School Care services for children ages 12 months to 12 years. The facility offers individual classrooms for specific age groups, a gymnastics room, dance studio, an extended kitchen for children’s use, a 13,000 sqft outdoor space with 9 outdoor classrooms, maze, garden, art lab, water and snow park, sand box, bicycle path, an (upcoming) indoor playground and an (upcoming) gymnasium. The program provides weekend recreational care and summer camps where children partake in real life experiences with nature, camping and exploring our community during field trips. We are looking for Level 2 & 3 Educators to join our growing team! Responsibilities include: Develop and implement childcare programs that support and promote the physical, intellectual, creative, cultural, social, cognitive, emotional and developmental needs and interests of children Encourage play-based learning rooted in children's interests and foster their desire to learn Lead activities by telling or reading stories, teaching songs, taking children to local points of interest and providing opportunities to express creativity through the media of art, dramatic play, music, science, literacy and physical activity Is flexible and looks forward to responding to planning to changes in programming as the day requires- based on weather or interest of children Plan and maintain an environment that protects the health, security and well-being of children Assess the abilities, interests and needs of children and discuss progress or problems with parents and other staff members Observe children for signs of potential learning or behavioral problems and prepare reports for parents, guardians or supervisor Guide and assist children in the development of proper eating, dressing and toilet habits Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with co-workers, parents, and community service providers working with children' Knowledge and understanding of the Early Learning and Child Care Licensing Regulations and Alberta Flight Curriculum and knowledge of working in an emergent curriculum environment Prepare for work teaching and guiding activities in outdoor settings Working with coaches and assisting children during dance, gym and sports activity and learn the basic rules of sports in our program.
