Early Childhood Educator Job in Calgary, Alberta

Function/ Scope: The Program Coordinator of the UCCCS Main Campus location reports to the Program Director who then reports to the Executive Director. The Program Coordinator is responsible for assisting the Program Director with overseeing the day-to-day operations and on-site supervision of the Main Campus child care. This position focuses on staffing, ratios, child enrollment, parent orientations & ECE programming with administrative, computer program and finance components. Qualifications: All applicants for the Program Coordinator position MUST have the following: • Minimum two years experience as a Front Line Educator in an Alberta early child care setting • Minimum of 6 months experience in a Leadership / Management/ Administrative role in an Alberta child care with mentoring and coaching experience • Minimum CDS/ Level 3, Qualifications Certificate (An ECE or Child Studies Degree would be beneficial as well as any other ECE training such as a Leadership Certificate, Flight Curriculum Framework training, etc.) • The applicant must possess the following current/ valid certificates: First Aid, Criminal Record Police Check with Vulnerable Sector Search (within 6 months), child welfare check & mini food safe course • Ability to build professional relationships with staff and positive relationships with children & families • Has excellent communication and exceptional interpersonal skills; both verbal and written • Has a strong early childhood programming background with a sound knowledge of emergent curriculum, Reggio-inspired environments, provocations, documentation, learning stories, etc. • Ability to cope with multiple demands/ able to multi-task • is extremely flexible and is able to work independently but also has as a team-focused approach • Has strong ECE classroom experience and superior behaviour guidance techniques • Is able to respect professional boundaries with colleagues and parents • Has experience with conflict resolution practices • Is aware of the Child Care Licensing Regulations, Alberta Health Service Regulations, the previous expectations of excellence for Accreditation in Alberta child care centres and has some previous experience leading or participating in an Accreditation team The following experience, skills and abilities will be an asset to the applicant, but can be trained: • Experience with Wait List and children’s movements (enrollments, withdrawals, transfers, etc.) • Experience and expertise of organizing a child care centre’s daily staffing • Experience leading staff and parent orientations • Proficiency with computer with programs such as Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, etc. • Experience with TimeSavr Computer systems, QuickBooks (i.e.: in areas such as creating requisitions, purchase orders, payment requests, etc.) • Experience with Accounts Payable & Receivable/ Bookkeeping, receipt/ deposit record keeping skills • Transportation to travel between UCCC sites for meetings, supply shopping, deposits, etc. • Use of Pyramid Approaches to assist with children’s social emotional regulation; ex) GRIT ASaP, TPOT *Please note, as we are located at the University of Calgary, all UCCCS employees are required to be fully vaccinated to comply with the Covid-19 vaccination mandate.
