Job Title: Registered Early Childhood Educator (RECE)
Reporting Relationships: This role will report directly into the Executive Director
Job Purpose: Provide a brief description of the essential functions of the job.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Plan and develop childcare and nursery school programs including weekly program plans and playground plan
- Develop and implement daily activities for children
- Provide supervision and guidance of daily activities, field trips and special activities
- Lead children in activities by telling stories and teaching songs and demonstrating the use of simple musical instruments
- Plan and organize activities for school aged children and childcare programs before and after regular school hours
- Prepare craft materials and assist children in using them
- Provide opportunity for creative expression through the mediums of art, dramatic play, musical and physical fitness
- Participate in the planning of centre related activities
- Assess the developmental level of children
- Attend meetings and workshops to develop and discuss new teaching methods including professional and staff development training
- Prepare Progress Reports and review with parents and other staff members whilst at the same time maintaining timeline exceptions relating to this and other processes
- Take responsibility for individual classroom organization, ensuring clean, neat and tidy appearance at all times
- Ensure medication is documented and administered according to policy
- Guide children in development of proper eating, dressing and toilet habits
- Prepare and serve meals/snacks
- Arrange transition periods such as lunch and rest for children
- Observe children and report on observations to supervisor
- Discuss progress and problems of children at staff meetings
- Assist supervisor in keeping records when requested
- Respects and reinforces the guidelines and procedures regarding confidentiality and the freedom of information and privacy act
Minimum Qualifications:
Skills, Experience and Education:

Education:
- Completion of college/CEGEP/vocational or technical training at an accredited Post Secondary Educational Institution.
Credentials: (certificates, licences, memberships, courses, etc):
- Early Childhood Education Diploma or degree
- Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certificate
- First Aid Certificate
- Proof of at least 2 covid-19 vaccinations
Experience With Children Who Have Special Needs:
- Children with a physical disability
- Children with a mental health disability
Language Comprehension
- Must be able to fluently read, write and speak english.
Basic Skills Required:
- Regular use of an iPad for data entry
- Reading skills
- Working with others (e.g. work with individual or team, build consensus)
- Planning and organizing skills (e.g. manage priorities, order tasks efficiently)
- Problem solving skills (e.g. identify problem causes, determine steps to resolve, assess solutions)
- Speaking and listening skills (e.g. communicate clearly and efficiently, follow directions, mediate disputes)
- Time and workload management skills
Other Requirements:
-You may be required to lift, pull or push heavy objects that way over 50lbs.
