We are looking for Registered Early Childhood Educators and Assistants to join our center in September. We are a large childcare center located in the Bloor West Village. If interested, please read on: Starting Salary: $21/hour plus $2.00 PWE with a further increase to come after probationary period (3 months). We have the wage on experience, professionalism and probationary period. The shifts are 9 hours with 1 hours lunch break Vacation days begin to accumulate and can be used after the probation period. To be considered for this position you must: Be registered and in good standing with the College of ECE or be an ECA Have hands-on, real world experience working with children in a child care and/or school setting, preferably with children ages 18 months to 5 years of age Up to date immunization including Covid-19 as deemed current by Toronto Public Health and/or Health Canada; 2 step TB test and a doctor’s letter that states you are fit to work in child care Successful completion of a Vulnerable Services Criminal Reference Check Up to date CPR – C and Standard First Aid Working with the Supervisor and other staff, the duties and responsibilities are as follows: - The planning, implementing a fun, safe and welcoming environment both physically and emotionally to the individual needs of children in all aspects of development - Ensure that program practices are consistent with the regulations and guidelines of Ministry dictates as well as meets the philosophy and practices of the centers policies - Responsible for a consistent program that ensures there is a balance of indoor and outdoor play as well as variation in activities such a active/quiet and group/individual in all developmental areas that promotes social play, respect for others and autonomy - Responsible for cleaning, arranging, organizing and setting up the classroom and it's activities in a welcoming, fun, productive and safe way - Responsible for the health and safety and general well-being of the children by recording illnesses and contacting parents, administering medication as directed by physicians and maintaining accurate records and communication with the families and supervisor - Discuss children’s progress, behaviour and health with parents/designated individuals, answer questions regarding children, the group and the centre while maintaining confidentiality. -Ensure positive communication with parents and other staff You are required to have the following: - ECE diploma/degree and Registered member of the College of Early Childhood Educators – registration number must be provided with your application - for ECA position you will not be required to have this but should have experience in the field - Have some experience working with children in a child care setting that provides care for kindergarten and school age children - Working knowledge of the programming for kindergarten and school age children - Organized and able to jump into various roles when needdd - Ability to maintain neat and accurate records as required - Ability to handle emergencies, conflict resolution skills between children - Willing to obtain or presently hold a valid, current Standard First Aid Certificate with CPR-C and Vulnerable Sector Screening police check Schedule is as follows: - Monday to Friday with occasional evenings for events.
