The Lead Teacher Level (1) is required to staff for 1st or 2nd shift depending on the need for their services. This position is responsible for the routine operation of Open Doors Learning Center, during their shift.
This position does report to the Administrator This position maintains a clean, safe, and proactive environment, by providing support and advocacy to the children and parents. The Lead Teacher Level (1) responsibilities include:
• Plan both long and short- range activities in accordance with curriculum objectives, developmentally appropriate practice and program philosophy.
• Meet the emotional, social, physical and cognitive needs of each child
• Maintain daily open communication with the parents
• Keep accident reports
• Maintain anecdotal notes
• Encourage Assistants to contribute to curriculum planning
• Coordinate field trips
• Prepare monthly plan charts
• Complete bi-annual assessment of children’s development
• Report progress of children to parents in bi-annual reports through parent- teacher conferences
• Maintain confidentiality
• Report any suspect abuse to Supervisor
• Arrange a classroom environment in accordance to program goals and philosophy
• Maintain a safe and healthy environment
• Inspect and replace damaged or lost materials
• Attend in-service and staff meetings
• Supervise assistants, aides and volunteers
• Keep all appropriate records such as records, attendance and time sheets.
• Meet all applicable licensing regulations
• Assisting parent’s with signing their children in or out at arrival and departure times
• Assuring that the children are nice and tidy at departure
• Assist with preparing of meals for snack, lunch and dinner
• Consistently providing accurate and appropriate charting and logging in the daily log book and also medical log book. (ouch reports)
• Serving as an internal and external liaison by behaving in a professional manner at all times, when interacting with staff, children parents, volunteers and community organizations.
• Functioning as a team member in order to meet the goals and objectives of the center
• Performing other task as assigned by the Administrator.

High School Diploma/Equivalent
CPR/ AED/ First-Aid Certified
TB Skin Test and Physical

Introduction to the Child Care Profession
Skill and Strategies for the Child Care Profession
Two additional (3) credit courses in the Early Child Care Profession or higher
Ongoing continuing education each year (25) hours
Registry level (7) or Higher
Two years’ experience in the Early Childcare profession
