Island Métis Family & Community Services Society ("IMFCSS") provides various support programs to Métis, First Nations and Inuit children and their families living in the greater Victoria area. Island Métis Child Care is Victoria "s First Urban Aboriginal Head Start Program. Our programs incorporate culturally relevant, Métis-programming that includes Elders, Culture Keepers and community members with 41 Licensed child care spaces. IMFCSS is accepting employment applications for the following position. ECE/ITE/ECEA/RA/Subs/Cook (Full Time, Permanent) (Part Time, Permanent) .Cultural Training and Safety Provided in a kind and supportive environment. Qualifications: • Valid ECE/ECEA/ITE/RA BC license to practice. • Valid Childcare First Aid Certificate (and CPR). • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse families and populations including Elders, Métis community members and agencies, with a client/family-centred approach. • Clear criminal record check. • Three written current references. • Up-to-date immunization information. Experience: • Strong team player, kindness and compassion for children and families and new team. • Six months of experience working with children in a group care setting or supportive childcare. • Knowledge and understanding of developmentally appropriate practices and child growth and development. Willingness to learn through an Indigenous lens and create strong bonds. • Experience planning programs, implementation and evaluation through pedagogical narration. • Strong verbal communication skills, and a kind approach to speaking with others. * Knowledge of Métis and other Indigenous Cultural Practices and traditions is an asset. The schedule of work is 35 hours per week full time or up to 20 hrs a week part-time for subs and supports and cooks positions; We are open Monday to Friday between the hours of 8 AM to 5:00 PM. Schedule to be set in collaboration with the Child Care Manager and based on program need. $19-$27 an hour based on education and experience.
